Sport Medicine physicians specialize in assessing and treating disorders of the musculoskeletal system such as overuse injuries like tendonitis, muscle or ligament strains and sprains, or traumatic injuries like joint dislocations and fractures. Sport Medicine physicians have the specialized training and skill to provide advice about activity modification, cross training, safe return to sport and activity.
When a new injury occurs, it is imperative that a diagnosis takes place as soon as possible. This allows the athlete, coach, and medical team to work together to ensure appropriate steps are taken to help each athlete return to sport safely and efficiently. All Toronto High Park FC athletes and coaches will be seen be medical professional at LiveActive within 24-48 hours of any new injury, when possible.
All athletes and coaches at Toronto High Park FC are entitled to a 10% discount on all services at LiveActive. This extends to all therapy services including physiotherapy, dietetics, chiropractic, and massage therapy. Pedorthic services are excluded from this discount, as are products, braces, and injections.
Our team is excited to host in-person and virtual seminars for Toronto High Park FC. The goal of these seminars are to educate players and coaches to help improve sport performance and help prevent injury. The seminars will include concussions, sport nutrition, and injury prevention.
Arianne Mason, a registered physiotherapist with LiveActive, is available for a quick review of any new injury. Following a new injury, it can be challenging to know what initial steps should be taken. Arianne will help guide whether hospital/urgent care, family doctor, sport doctor, or therapy is the best course of action. She can also help identify some self care techniques to do at home to manage pain and prevent further injury until a proper assessment occurs.
If necessary, appropriate imaging can be organized by our Sport Medicine Doctors. This includes, X-Rays, Ultrasounds, MRIs and other relevant tests to ensure your medical professionals are addressing the injury appropriately. Our medical team can help coordinate and expedite imaging during emergency situations.
LiveActive is available for field-side coverage for tournaments and major games. Having medical on-site can help with rapid assessment, game preparation, and managing any existing injuries. Our team would arrive with tables, equipment, and are happy to volunteer their time to help keep THPFC athletes in the game.
