Treatment of ingrown nails isn’t complicated. A small section at the side needs to be removed so the bed under is destroyed. Treatment also involves numbing the toe. A brand-new completely straight nail edge needs to be created so the toenail gets cut. The entire toe is bandaged for a few weeks while it heals. Nail Avulsion is the surgery that can correct an ingrown nail. The nail bed is destroyed as part of this treatment by removing a section at the side. The toe needs to be numbed prior to the surgery. The toenail is then cut in a straight line to present a proper edge.
The idea is to create a thinner nail so the cells underneath need to be destroyed so they don’t regrow. The toe gets bandaged and stays that way for several weeks while the healing process is underway. Antibiotics can be used if there is an infection present before surgery. These can help alleviate any discomfort, speed along healing time and steer clear of complications.

Ingrown toenails, or those that grow inward, can cause significant discomfort. These issues may be due to genetics, trauma, or improper nail-cutting methods. Complications arise when the nail pierces the surrounding skin, leading to inflammation, pain, and potential infections.
Nail fungus, medically termed Onychomycosis, results in thickened, yellow, or discolored nails. It can be contracted from places like swimming pools, gyms, nail parlors, spas, or any fungus-friendly environment. An existing athlete’s foot infection can lead to toenail fungus and vice versa. Eradicating this infection is challenging, and even top-notch over-the-counter treatments may struggle to treat it effectively.
This treatment involves using a quick pulse of laser to heat up and destroy targeted red blood cells in a wart, destroying the blood supply to the wart.
